Disney + has announced a nostalgia-laden reprisal of Malcolm in The Middle, a relatable family sitcom that originally aired from 2000-2006 on Fox.

With Disney’s 2019 finalization of the $71.3 Bn acquisition of 21st Century Fox, rebranded as 20th Century Studios, numerous freed titles have amassed both versatility and gains for the monolithic and ubiquitously known brand. Library acquisitions including the animated comedy triumvirate of The SimpsonsFamily Guy, and now Malcolm in the Middle

While the last decade’s sitcom revival-wave has yielded varying successes, Malcolm in The Middle is anticipated to be a sure-fire hit. Its massive success in terms of crossover appeal has always been reflected in viewers’ identification with both parental and malcontent teenager archetypes within the series arc. A relationship that was found to be both chaotic and endearing in the show’s original run.

The show will reunite original cast members Frankie Muniz (Malcolm), Bryan Cranston (Hal), and Jane Kaczmarek (Lois). The four-episode series, written and executive produced by original creator Linwood Boomer, is slated for release in 2025.
