National Board of Review Awards Gala 2024

The National Board Review, an annual awards gala set forth by film connoisseurs are the early harbinger of the film awards season that culminates with the Academy Awards in March. Retired actor Daniel-Day-Lewis made a surprise appearance to grace Martin Scorsese with the award for Best Director for Killers of The Flower Moon. He made a moving and passionate speech in which he quoted Tarkovsky. Scorsese and Day-Lewis previously worked together on 1993’s The Age of Innocence and 2002’s Gangs of New York. The legendary filmmaker teased that “maybe there’s time for one more” for the two to convene once again in the future during his acceptance speech. Michael J Fox was recognized for his documentary Still, which won Best Documentary. He was also noted as a major artistic influence by Bradly Cooper speech during his acceptance of the NBR Icon Award.
